Califon Flip

This was quite the project for our small company. This project took just under a year. It was nice to always have something to work on. Below I’ll list my favorite featues of this house

  • The master bath is my favorite room in the house. The blue tile is so different and unique. I love that both bathroom floors are heated, which is not only a luxury in the winter, but also cost efficient by not needing an additional heat source.
  • If you’ve noticed the big units on the outside of the house, they are called minisplits. They are heating and cooling systems. I prefer this ductless system, first because I can set each room to its own temperature. Second, because they are so efficient. They can heat or cool a room within minutes without running up the power bill.
  • The exterior, which is stucco and to accent the white house we added gray stones to the windows, doors, and corners.  It’s untraditional, yet attractive.
  • Inground pools seem to be a theme in this neighborhood, and while ours was growing trees we figured it’s best to just remove completely and have some flat land on the property. With the gigantic pool gone, the flat land is perfect to add a hot tub, bazebo, and still have enough room for yard games.
  • The wood burning stove is a perfect and almost free source of heat in the winter. Once you get it burning, you won’t even need the heat on.
  • Removing the peninsula in the kitchen and making it an island created a more free flowing kitchen. The island comes with not one, but two bonuses. The first is the mini fridge on the cabinet side. This extra refrigeration is perfect for prepping and storing foods and vegetables, to just hold extra beer, wine, or juice packs which is easy access for small children. Second is that you can add up to 4 chairs while still having enough room for a dining table.

Anyways, I had a really great time remodeling this place, and I hope that the new owners enjoy this home.
